The name Mazagran comes from the cold coffee drink with roots in Algeria and French café culture, a refreshing mixture traditionally associated with coffee, ice, and citrus.
The design takes that idea as a starting point rather than illustrating it literally. Its dense layers of saturated orange, blue, green, pink, and black have the heat and intensity of North Africa, mixed with the visual energy of European café culture and city streets. Brushstrokes, fragmented forms, and overlapping marks create the feeling of accumulated experiences, like painted walls, faded posters, patterned textiles, and objects collected while traveling.
Bright orange provides the strongest visual anchor, set against areas of black, blue, green, pink, yellow, and warm cream. Some passages feel almost figurative or floral, while others dissolve into abstraction. The result sits somewhere between an artist’s palette, a heavily worked canvas, and layers of weathered posters or graffiti accumulated on a city wall.
